Getting ready for christmas includes:
- Putting all the christmas cds in the cd player on shuffle, my favourite - sadly enough - is Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas is YOU!" That's my leading up to christmas song. I like "Silent Night" for Christmas eve.
- Christmas cooking. I used to bake christmas biscuits with my gran. My sister made some today but something went wrong with one of the ingredients and they tasted like toxic waste.
- Finding the perfect gift for everyone, very very time consuming!
- Buying a new diary for the impending new year and VOWING to use it.
- This year Christmas includes being a part of our parish "Come to Bethlehem and see..." In which I get to play one of the girls from Herod's harem... send some vibes my way so that no-one I know sees me!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!

I like "Baby It's Cold Outside" by Dean Martin.
And for some reason, dogs barking "Jingle Bells" is one of my favorite songs.
And I like "Marshmallow World" a lot, too. I don't know how much of a Christmas song that is, but it's nice.

Everytime I hear "Feliz Navidad", I feel like shakin' my ample booty (spreadable cheese!).
My absolute fav is "Charlie Brown's Christmas". I think this is the only Xmas album one truly needs. But I also like:
-- "I Believe in Father Christmas" by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer
-- "Father Christmas" by The Kinks
-- "Santa Claus and His Old Lady" by Cheech and Chong
-- "A Christmas Song" by Jethro Tull
-- "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses
-- "I Hate F***ing Christmas" by the Rugburns
and that Pretenders one that I can't remember the title to!

knittin kitten- I'm with you. John Denver & the Muppets is my favorite Xmas album. :) I never get tired of it nor the Charlie Brown Xmas jazz. :)
For when it all gets to be too much during the holiday season, I turn to my oh-so-wrong favorite- the South Park Xmas Album. :)
I also like the Dolly Parton "Hard Candy Christmas" song, Melissa Etheridge's version of "Merry Xmas (War is Over)" (and it's impossible to find); and Jill Sobule's "Merry Christmas from the Family." :)
Guilty pleasure confession: I like when VH1 goes to the all-holiday videos for a brief time on Xmas Da. :)

Having worked at a mall during Christmas, me and Christmas songs don't get along too well. But there are a few that even hearing eight times an hour couldn't get me to dislike...
"Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time" by Paul McCartney
"Father Christmas" by the Kinks
"Santa, Baby" by either Eartha Kitt or Marilyn Monroe
"Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" by Burl Ives
And finally: the Peanuts Christmas song! I don't know the name of it, but you know what I mean.

CONTEMPORARY -
Fairytale of New York (Kirsty McColl with the Pogues) - Although it makes me so sad now, as Kirsty died in a tragic accident at Christmas a few years back
Christmas Wrapping (The Waitresses) - A modern classic!
Santa Claus is Coming to Town (Bruce Springsteen) - When I first hear this on the radio, it's Christmas!
Do they know it's Christmas - Always makes me pause and think...
TRADITIONAL -
The Christmas Song (the one and only Nat King Cole) - What can I say? It gets me every time.....just takes me back......

I actually like Christmas Songs, most of them. My favorites that I can think of right now are O Holy Night, White Christmas, Winter Wonderland, and Let it Snow.
Except this one. I have no idea what it is, but it's the most annoying Christmas song I've ever heard, and I've only heard it at work. It's a guy singing, pretty upbeat song, annoying as hell.
The only part I can think of is "leave a peppermint stick, for Old St. Nick" hehe, there's a more annoying part I think, my mind is blanking though.

I think it's "Holiday Season" sung by Andy Williams. It is annoying but it sticks in my head . . . so whoop de doop and dickory dock . . . . see what I mean.

the radios and muzak is holiday music
You know, I think this is my least favorite thing about the holidays (I hope I'm not being Scrooge-like by saying this). I actually enjoy some Christmas music in, like, July (I love Bruce Springsteen's "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town") but when everything is just saturated with it, and you know you can't go into a store or turn on the radio without getting some really bad Christmas song stuck in your head, it just makes you want to withdraw from all human contact.

I rarely listen to anything new. The last new CD I bought was Nora Jones "Feels like home"..she's kick ass in my book. I saw her in concert before she went bigtime. She was the opening act for Dave Mathews Band at a Camden NJ show. KKKKILLLLEEERRR!!!
I was stuck on Smashing pumpkins for weeks, it was my mood I guess. String Cheese Insident is in my car stereo now. I don't have any christmas songs except for "a christmas without weed", "Merry Christmas, War is over (John Lennon version of course), and "Christmas song" by Dave Mathews. Hmmm, maybe I should make a Christmas cd??? I shall download now!
