I'm sure we've all had times when we feel like we are in a rut that we just can't get out of. You have my every sympathy especially if work is stressful too.
Can you surround yourself at work, with bits and pieces that DO inspire you. On my desk here...yes I'm posting whilst at work!... I've got a collage picture a friend made for me, a bowl of gorgeous colored beads that I like to dip my fingers into, (great for destressing), a coaster for my mug I made out of some favorite fabric scraps, and in my drawer I have a journal where I stash bits of fabric, ribbon, postcards, paper, anything that takes my fancy whilst out and about. It's good for scribbling down web addresses that I come across in my online search for craftiness.
Fabric and color are my inspiration, I love to have a good sort out of my stash. This sooths me in a strange sort of way :)

Actually that sounds a lot like what I'm talking about. Do you have a picture by chance? The girl that did these just did one with the feather and the other with corresponding colored beads, it looked pretty cool.

On "Gilmore Girls," Paris had a craft corner in her & Rory's dorm room: "I was just setting up my craft corner. Some mosaic tiles, some colored beads. Still kind of kids' stuff, but Terrence showed me how working with my hands could help with my nerves."
A little later:
LORELAI: Oh my God, check out Paris' craft corner.
RORY: She gets more done before nine than other people do all day.
LORELAI: She's a craft person now, so it's not safe to leave anything around her anymore.
RORY: Maybe that's where crafty comes from.
LORELAI: Good point.
And I just read a post on the Knitty forum about two films -- one Korean, one Chinese -- that feature knitting in their plots. The first is a girl kicking-butt action/romance called SHIRI in which one of the gals is knitting her boyfriend a sweater. The second is TOGETHER in which the father is unravelling an old sweater to knit a new and special sweater for his son. The neighbor helps him do a fancy design in another yarn color.
