Third Option is basic mix and match shelves where you buy the board and the brackets separately (I'm thinking 2, maybe three)
This is my blog entry w/ pictures of the desk - for some reason I couldn't put a picture in this post. http://www.getcrafty.com/blogs.php?user=Chelsea&entry=6217
Okay, I just got a new desk for our bedroom as my new crafty corner thing. I need more storage, but now that I see other things that are part of a furniture collection at Target, I don't know which one because unfortunately I can't afford both (I'm already lucky I can get something else since the desk was 50% off!).
There is enough room on the other side of the TV for the ladder bookshelf, I just couldn't get it to show up in the camera w/out going through the wall behind me.

In the old mill building I used to live in, I made a little area, sort of a crafty corner, using some of those metal frame/wood shelf shelving units from home despot (which i covered with some kitschy shower curtains from the dollar store, stapled to the particle board shelves) as one of the "walls". The other wall was a big mirror front armoire. I had one of those folding, three-part japanese-type screens that I used as the door, if I wanted to screen the area off. It was also a great place to shove misc. crap if I had company, since the place was just one big giant room.
I was also planning on getting one of those cube-type pass-thru bookshelves that are open on both side from IKEA, to screen off my bed area, but I didn't get around to doing that before I moved.
