Post Subject: Looking for a place to sell your Bags????
Hey all -- I'm a Crafty girl just like all of you and I started a site called CraftView (the crafter's marketplace) and it's a site that gets craft sellers and craft buyers together.
I just debut this site two weeks ago and CraftView is now the host to over 1000 unique visitors a day -- that's 7000 unique opportunities (a week -- 280,000 a month!!) to get your bags in front of the people who matter (not bad for a 1 week old!!)
I need your help! CraftView has about 20 members, but we have many categories to fill and we need more craft sellers. Crafters of all types are welcome! Please help me spread the word! Our rates our very reasonable -- starting at 25¢ for a 5 day listing and you get a free listing for signing up! (no hidden fees!!)
Check it out! Your first listing is free! (be the first to be in our handbag category)

Post Subject: Rubber stamping HOW To?
Hey...I have a good idea for a little advertising for my Mom's new business venture...She just opened a health food store, and I thought it would be very cool to rubber stamp her brown grocery bags...
How would I go about doing that? I have never made a rubber stamp before. OR does anyone know crafty girl that makes her own??

Post Subject: a great evening in!!!
My friend Lisa and I are both going through a tough time... Lisa split with her guy and has recently moved to my city.. and well... I am in relationship and home organization distress... I invited Lisa over for Dinner and we go so much done...She helped me hang a heavy mirror I had recently bought... found better spots for my paintings..and even turned some material I had into a wall hanging.. I am a crafty girl (I have a drill, all the nails and pins necessary for the jobs.. but I am a huge procrasinator.. We split a plant I had...it had five ferny things..so we carefully separated the plant...and repotted two of the smaller ones into a plant for her... She was so happy leaving with a new plant..(and a decorative pillow that was in my thrift pile!!! I am also going to give her another plant I am tired of...What a great friend she is... Cooking is my thing.. I love the idea of decorating..but I often buy the stuff and don't get around to using it!! It would be so great to have the decorator fairy come more often.. I feel like my apartment is on my way.. I bought the book Apartment Therapy a while back.. But I Am so behind on everything...This is my year.. More Yoga..less shopping... More dinner parties etc...Hopefully I will be on my way soon..

I'm sorry your having homesickness. I know it can be hard. my husband and I moved 1000 miles from anyone and anthing we knew almost 4 years ago.
My advice is:
1. Keep in touch with far away friends and family as much as possible. e-mail is great for this, you can send notes and pics! does your friend have e-mail? you could see baby pics. I'm watching a few nieces and nephews grow up this way.
2. Remember that this is just a phase of your life together. might as well enjoy it.
3. Home is where you make it. You have your newest family, your husband. You have a pace to live. Make it homier to you, your a crafty girl....
4. make a journal of this time of your life...it just might make a good book one day.;)

Post Subject: san antonio
hey all...my mom, my husband, my mom's fiance and i are planning a trip to San Antonio and we were wondering if you guys who live there (or have been) have any tips on stuff to see and do (and eat). She's also a crafty girl so some stuff that her and I can run off and go see by ourselves would be helpful too. TIA!

Post Subject: Always unfinished
I know it probably seems obvious to all of you crafty gals, but I always find that no matter ow hard I try, I always have a surplus of unfinnished or barely started sewing projects in my project box.
Does any one else have this problem and How do you gals combat this evil habit of being a a lazy crafty girl?

Post Subject: Brooklyn felt party
Okay, here's the deal: my co-worker packed up and moved across the country, which is sad, but before she left, she bequeathed me a huge bag of felt. Now, I'm a crafty girl, but this is more felt than I could *ever* use! To that end, I am having a felt party!
Come, take some felt, cut it up, make some flowers, glue it to paper, sew up some baby caps, heck, do whatever makes you happy.
Saturday, July 10th, start at 1pm til whenever we get sick of it.
Since my place is pretty small, and it's been so nice outside lately, let's do this in Prospect Park. I'll be toward the top of the park (maps here: http://www.prospectpark.org/general/main.cfm?Target=map); walk through the "Meadowport Arch" and into the big green area, I'll be on the west side of the park. I'll have a big green and white checked sheet so you can spot me.
Email me offlist for my cell #, if you'd rather find us that way.
If it rains (nooo!), then I'll reschedule later in the summer.
Bring your scissors, bring an extra blanket, bring something to snack on, bring your boys, girls, dogs, kids, friends.
And...bring your other craft (knitting, crocheting, whatevs) if you don't want to felt, because I'd love to see you!

Fun thread!!
*making collages with my mom - we(my sis, bro & I) were little - 1st grade/preschool maybe? - and I always tried to make mine as nice as moms. Hers was a girl with a gingham skirt and yarn braids
*playing on the floor outside my moms teeny tiny sewing room with empty spools. Later, I would sew things using her scraps(by hand of course) and my dad would get mad about the pins I lost in the carpet and he would step on. I'd beg my mom to let me use her ribbon and iron-on patches
*My very first trip to a local bead store that I found in the phone book - I was in middle school. My mom took me there after school. The owner helped me make my very first pair of earrings(I still have them!). That was the beginning of my bead obsession that lasted a long, LONG time and the birth of this crafty girl!
*As an adult, a trip w/ my mom & sister to a creative arts convention. It was the first time us girls ever did anything like that. Because I didn't knit at the time or sew all that well either, I forced them to take classes they'd never normally take. Hello new hobbies! It was hands down the best weekend I've ever had with the two most creative, influential, amazing women in my life!

I think Xuli mentioned this once on another craft board (cough), but have you tried volunteering at places like Habitat for Humanity? Or other humanitarian kind of places? If a guy wants to help people, then maybe, just maybe, he's crafty.
Now I feel that I should specify that my partner and I did, indeed, meet up (seven years ago!!!) via Habitat for Humanity, but not on the construction site. I've been a volunteer with Habitat, on and off, for a loooooong time, so once when I was desperately in need of a temp gig in an office, I knew just who to call. So I was the administrative person while the real admin was out on maternity leave, and he was starting his first out-of-college job as a finance person ... in other words, we met in the office.
But yes, he does love helping people, he's somewhat crafty, and he's a fabulous partner to a super-crafty girl :)
And I have to recommend volunteering on the construction site (which I do at least once a year), because I've met lots of crafty people that way too.

Post Subject: January Blues
Whew. It's nice to know I'm not alone. I just finished writing an entry in my blog about this very thing. I think a good part of my general crankiness every January comes from the sudden cessation of December holiday activities. Leading up to Christmas, most of my time is spent frantically trying to get that last gift finished, along with decorating the house, mailing out cards, baking cookies, ad infinitum. Then Christmas and New year's Eve come and go, and suddenly I'm bereft. I have no reason to make crafty things! Which all the crafty girls here know is total bullsh*t. We should never need a reason to get crafty, right!?
This year, I have found myself a little bored with my usual crafty projects. Most of my work is bead-related, and lately I have found myself less than inspired by my beadies. None of them are speaking to me at the moment. So, I think trying a new craft is just the ticket for my blues. I'm a librarian, so I'm thinking the bookbinding class sounds pretty fine at the moment. And *Huzzah* I have actually found one being offered in my town! Thanks for that tip!
A "January Blues" exchange is a sweet idea. Giving to and receiving from another crafty girl is just the kick we all need! I'm pretty new on this board, so tell me, who coordinates exchanges here? How do we sign up?
