I think what artgeek did was perfect in this case. Often people wanting to post about job opportunities or about crafty tv shows have emailed or pm'd me first to be sure it's ok, and I always direct them to the girls gone crafty forum. I also think it's good to add "AD" to the subject heading if you think the member is mostly advertising their business.
As for an announcement forum where only mods can post, I don't think it would work, just because it's good to get feedback on announcements from members. It is annoying that a lot of people don't really read what "community announcements" is about before posting, but that's part of our job, to move threads to the appropriate forum.
Maybe we could change the heading to "getcrafty announcements" or make the subheading even more clear - "announcements that ONLY PERTAIN TO THIS COMMUNITY."

Hello Crafty TV,
Have you thought of having some of the 20 - 40's crafters on tv? Like Jean (who owns this site) and CraftyChica & lizzymahoney? (I know there are others in here I cant think of right now....). There are some very creative Generation X crafters - and it would be so much FUN to see them! That I know I would love to see.
Yes, it would be great to see a sewing 101 show like Crafty Chica mentioned - that's a great idea. Other things on needle arts could be interesting. I like to do a lot of paper crafts - decoupage, scrapbooking, watercolor, shrinky dinks etc. :) so I don't know how typical I am.
What is your show called? Do you have a website? :) Abigail

You know what I would love to see on Crafty TV? Renegade Crafts! I love watching craft shows for the techniques, and the occasional out of this world craft. Buuuuuuuttttt, it's rare I see something created on TV that I'm in love with. Like, I Love Carol Duvall, hate the ugly, cutesy, typical craft style she presents most of the time. You know, stuff like this.....
I want to see how to make Damned Dollies. And Stitch and Bitch creations. And reconstructed clothes. Altered books taken to the next level.
Basically, I want Get Crafty on TV.
Sigh, but, I guess if it's on TV, it's somehow mainstreamed, and then it's not renegade, and can lose it's political message. You know, it can become such a fad that it loses it's focus on re-defining creativity and domesticity. Then again, it might be great to get all craftistas thinking of their art in a feminist or political light.
Does DIY have a show like this? HGTV, TLC, and PBS sure don't, although PBS will occasionally present some cool American Folk Art, with lots of history and interviews with contemporary blacksmiths, woodworkers and such. Craft Corner DeathMatch is the closest thing that I've seen, on Style TV, but man, that host is just so annoying. What was he like in person, Jean? I mean, that has got to be just a bad act, no one is that over the top, right? And yeah, it's fun to watch, but there isn't a how-to, there's no featured artist.....it's just not it. 5000 channels, and there's nothing good on TV. ;)
