Man, I can't be concise about anything! Sorry.
eeexcellent, thanks -- don't apologize! I learn a lot from your posts.
soapandwater, I tried to get into Ms. as a baby feminist but found too much of it went over my head. it does seem to skew older, but I guess I take their book suggestions seriously because they've always been a "serious" feminist magazine to me, and I suppose I figure they know what they're talking about, whether that's right or wrong, because I don't know enough to critique the mag. I know I connect more with Bitch (although it's gotten boring enough that I stopped my sub a few issues ago), but that mag doesn't cover the same things as Ms., so it's hard for me to compare/contrast.
and I'm not sure that last paragraph made a lot of sense, but I'll leave it in case it did.

What, did noone get the 'Fight Club' reference- "I wanna have your abortion' is something Marla says to Tyler.
that was the first thing i thought when i saw that... but its still a completely horrible and utterly distgusting reference. especially for a feminist magazine. but i guess thats why they thought they could get away with it.
in all honesty, coke ring didnt upset me. it SURPRISED the shit out of me, but it didnt anger me. in fact, i thought it was hilarious and perfect for a vice themed spread. the whole spread seemed like a joke, anyway.

Another reason to keep me from being subscribed to Bust. I think you can be a feminist magazine (if Bust still calls itself that anymore) and decide to write about the men you love without being, I don't know, tempted to put cocaine accessories on there. I don't even understand the gendered perspective of all of that. They do a Vice spread when men are the focus of the issue?
Way to forget about all the women "powdering their noses" in the bathroom.
Okay, that was a bit of a digression.
The point is that drug abuse is not cool, is not something to parade, and the fact that it's promoting a 125 dollars sterling silver tube for snorting coke just shows that, besides being wrong on so many different levels, it's pandering to people with more money now. That could be a stretch, actually, but it does seem sketchy (like I said, on many different levels).
