I can't read the article, but the blurb and other replies have me thinking about two things:
- it reminds me a lot of first wave feminism. Elizabeth Cady Stanton's "other" project was a Woman's Bible
- it also reminds me of some of the more inventive global development ideas out there, ones that recognize the fact that globally women are more involved in food preparation, child care, and basic medical services for their families, therefore development should focus on the expressed needs of these women. You know, actually ask the lower chaste Indian woman what would make her life easier, instead of telling her that some big company/charity knows what is best for her.
This also sets aside the issues of innate differences. It's not that woman "must" take care of these duties, but that they "do" and that is the reality to deal with.
