Please enjoy the free pattern and Merry Christmas from My Recycled Bags!
I'm back to share another recycled pattern. Here is a wonderful recycled bag for Christmas. This tote bag is great for use at the market or as a purse tote.
Here is the link to the free pattern http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2007/12/02/recycled-grocery-tote-bag/.
This is my crocheted recycled Shoulder Bag from plastic grocery bags. This is one of the first items I ever made from plastic bags. Several people have asked for the pattern and I finally have it available. Here is the link to the free pattern http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2007/03/29/crochet-a-recycled-plastic-shoulder-bag/
Here is my latest recycled bag idea. I used two different recycled materials to crochet this little round purse. It's plastic bags and vhs tape! Check it out and if you want I have the free pattern available at my website blog http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2007/03/04/crocheted-round-recycled-motif-purse/
You can make this using all plastic bags if you'd rather. But this does offer a great way to use those old vhs tapes for an eco-friendly crafty idea!

that's going to be really hard to describe in words. have you looked for a free pattern online? the other thing is, i had to Google "welder's hat" because all i could picture was a welder's MASK, and there were a lot of different styles.

Post Subject: Sew a Diaper Stacker
I am due in 4 weeks with my first child. Being an Interior Designer, the nesting has TOTALLY kicked in!! I''m making all sorts of stuff.
One thing, however, that I would like to make out of my coordinating nursery fabrics is a diaper stacker. Does anyone have any patterns or leads on where I could get a *preferably* free pattern to sew one?

Post Subject: Recycled Plastic Hobo Bag w~ Free Pattern
Hello everyone:
I'm back to share a craft after a long absence but am feeling well now. I finally got my recycled plastic hobo handbag done along with the free crochet pattern written up. Check it out.
This crochet pattern is a variation of Dao's Nordstrom Hobo Bag but is done in plastic bag yarn or plarn. The stitches are a bit different but the look is very similar. It's also lined and has a magnetic clasp for a closure. The free pattern link is found here. http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2008/05/16/recycled-plastic-hobo-handbag/

Post Subject: Free Patterns for Martha's Poncho
I'm not sure if this has been posted yet. Here is a link to a free pattern for the Martha Poncho. My mom sent it my way. I was surprised to hear from her that quite a few of her older friends are going crazy about it as well. :)
Here is a new recycled bag of mine. I crocheted bread bags to create this handbag. The free pattern link is found here http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2007/10/19/recycled-bread-bag-handbag/
This was a first time for me using bread bags and crocheting them. I used the same technique where I cut the bags in circle strips and intertwined them to create a ball of "yarn" with the plastic bags. I did cut the bags a bit narrower due to bread bags being so much heavier than plastic grocery bags.

Post Subject: Felted Trapezoid Clutch pattern?
Does anyone have a felted trapezoid clutch pattern they could share with me? I know this was a free pattern originally posted on needleandhook.com but I've been getting a connection failure notice everytime I try to go there. I was wondering if someone had a pdf of it already downloaded you could send me?

Post Subject: Dishcloths with Scrubbies - Free Patterns
Ok, I'm back with a new free eco pattern to share. I've seen dishcloths made with scrubbies but not using recycled plastic bags for the scrubber. Here's my three completed projects to share.
These are made by crocheting with plastic bag yarn or plarn and then finishing the dishcloth using cotton yarn. Just don't put them in the dryer as the plastic centers will melt.
Here is the free pattern link http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2008/02/16/dishcloths-with-plastic-scrubber/
This is my latest recycled project. It's a recycled plastic bag keeper. I crocheted this using white grocery bags with red writing. You can use up those plastic bags by crocheting this holder and then storing your excess bags in it. It's like a double recycle project.
Anyway here's the free pattern if you want to give it a try. http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2007/04/04/crocheted-plastic-bag-keeper-from-recycled-bags/
Good luck and happy recycling!

Post Subject: looking for this pattern
this pic from the movie Bewitched....check it out..I want to make that hat, but I have a HUGE head, and know that no matter what I'll have to change a pattern. So I wonder, how hard could it be to MAKE a pattern....does anyone have any idea or know of a free pattern that is similar?

Post Subject: Clothespin help
Following up on the clothesline thread, I am now in need of something to hold all my clothespins! I found a free pattern online but thought I would check here before I broke out the sewing machine (I also found a crochet pattern, but I'm more of a knitter and sewer).
So, how do you store your clothespins? Any patterns you would like to share?

Post Subject: Crocheting with recycled plastic bags
I love recycling and making products out of recycled materials. I specialize in crocheting with plastic grocery store bags. I love to share and learn more about recycled crafts. I have a picture of a shoulder bag I created below. I will have the free pattern available soon if anyone is interested. I just need to write out the instructions so check back soon.
I added some other recycled material I had from some old curtains to spice up my bag a bit. It's a basic Hdc crochet stitch to make this bag. Here is the free pattern for anyone who is interested. http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2008/01/12/rag-bag-tote/
I'd love to hear from everyone here at GetCrafty -- do you like free patterns? I try and share recycled crafting patterns here but don't hear too much from the group. I'd love some feedback. Do you want more? Do you have a request about green crafting? Let's share...

Post Subject: Made it but didn't design it...okay to sell?
I made myself some new Fuzzyfeet (from Knitty) and showed them to some friends. Now everybody wants a pair. They're fast and easy to do - I can probably make a pair in a weekend. I'm thinking of asking $25; my friends can easily afford that.
Someone also suggested I could just make them to sell. I wouldn't mind doing that - I know a couple of places that would sell them. But is there a legal or ethical problem with selling something I made from a free pattern? I put in the labor of making them, but I didn't create them. Do I need to contact the designer and get permission (or is it simply a courtesy to do so)?
Ever need a lunch bag and don't have one? Here is the answer to that problem. Crochet your own reusable, eco-friendly lunch bag sack from recycled plastic bags. Here is the link to the free pattern http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2007/06/22/reusable-lunch-sack-bag/

Wow you sound really busy! I've just finished a hobo bag with a free pattern that I just posted under Share a Craft here. I also completed a clothes pin bag from recycled plastic bags. Now I'm working on a big grocery tote so I'm pretty busy too.

i second stella's suggestion of a cloche. the knit one, felt too book has one that i'm currently making.l so fast and easy, it's all knit, you'll get used to using circulars and DPNs (which are FAR easier and more versitile in my opinion than straight needles), and it's felted, so any mistakes will be brushed out in the wash. you will learn how to decrease as well.
if you would rather a free pattern, i highly recommend knitty's fuzzy feet pattern. use one or two skeins of lamb's pride, depending on the size of your feet (i wear a women's 10.5, and i needed 2 skeins) - it's cheap, and you'll learn similar skills, though i think there's also some increasing in there. they call it tangy, but i had only done one or two scarves before i tried it, and i had no problems. AND you learn the basics of sock construction, which is great - so many veteran knitters spend decades afraid of socks. oh yeah, and it's also felted so mistakes don't really show in the end.

No worries! Before I got my confidence sewing, I hoarded free pattern links and worked only with recycled fabric, so I knew I had to have a wrap skirt somewhere in my pile o' links.

Brdgt,
So are you saying I really should be posting in the Share a Craft when I post my free patterns? If so, would you move my post I did a few days ago from the girls gone crafty to the other area. The post was a free pattern for a recycled bag using cassette tape. I believe you are saying that I should be using this category. Thanks for all your help and listening.

This is what I'm trying to get the pulse of the community on.
Personally, I feel like that is what "Girls Gone Crafty" should be - sharing patterns, articles, and announcements about publications or appearances - but it's become so overrun by ADs.
Honestly, right now my vote would be to not allow any ADs whatsoever. Folks can post their business in the designated thread at the top of the page and that's it. But that's not my decision, I'm not the "boss" of Getcrafty, or even an editor.
