Post Subject:
I've been feeling very displaced musically and otherwise after a recent cross-country move an' starting a new job an' leaving my boyfriend behind. So I've been sort of zombie-listening to a weird mix of stuff. I've been listening to this exact list, and nothing but this list, in constant rotation:
*Arcade Fire
*Paul Westerberg, Folker ( the line ". . . took me to your place, I said I'm in love with somebody/that I cannot place, but that's the way it goes honey . . ." floats through my head constantly and I want to embroider it on a pillow . . . a very long pillow)
*A mix of older Modest Mouse that a friend made me, which contains a number of songs that I use to listen to about 7 years ago in college . . . it's nice
*A copy of the Neutral Milk Hotel cd that my friend gave me last year and which I also have not listened to in 6-7 years (has it even been out that long?)
And at night:
*Air
OR
*Iron and Wine
OR
*A mix of stuff that my boyfriend made? or downloaded? and gave me a copy of and which I ignored for about a year but now gives me great joy.
I don't know . . . it seems like unusual choices for me, except Paul Westerberg, which I will always be listening to forever, and who I guess is rounding out this otherwise exclusively-ethereal bill.
(Wow, I haven't written in forever and now I sound like a complete flake.)
