last night i was cranky and tired from work so i ordered a cheese pizza and picked it up.
The night before I was feeling experimental so i made fried shimp and fries...now that might not seem like much but the only thing i've ever deep fried is tortillas to make tortilla chips, so this was something new, i adaped a calamari recipe i saw on the everyday italian cooking show and made fried shrimp out of some cocktail shrimp i had in the freezer and served it with some ore-ida fries...this is one of the only new things i've tried that my b/f has actually complimented, i.e. we make spaghetti sauce from scratch alot and he says that's good, but this was something brand new. :)

I'll throw a little love in Rachel Ray's direction -- though she isn't one of my favorites, I like that her recipes are relatively simple and she's kind of cool about telling the audience what she can't do.
However, my heart belongs to Alton, Lidia, and Mary Ann Esposito. (I don't know if Lidia and Mary Ann are well known because they're on PBS around here at completely random times, but they do some of the best Italian cooking and the food looks so much more real than any other shows.

I love Yan, Alton, Jamie Oliver, the 2 fat ladies, the Barefoot Contessa, Jacques and Julia. I go back and forth on Sarah Moulton. Sometimes I like her, but sometimes I get kind of creeped out by her b/c she is so poised she almost seems like a robot.
Amygdala, I also love watching Lydia. It just always makes me feel calm watching her stir a big pot of sauce. (;
I can't STAND Rachel Ray or Booby Flay. That's what I call him. Oh, and Maryann Esposito of Ciao Italia. Erggh, she's so full of herself. Also not a big fan of Tyler Florence or that Michael guy from California who does the casual Italian cooking (although I love his recipes).
A new fave of ours is Donna Hay - I think she was on Martha not too long ago - we got one of her cookbooks and she is fabulous.
