pin the arms on the robot? make your own robot using toilet paper tubes and empty boxes? make a HUGE robot out of a fridge box as decoration.
have kids wear those antennea headbands with silver balls on the end. make marshmallow robots using the big marshmallows, pretzel sticks and candy. invitations - I'd just do something basic and draw(or use stickers) nuts and bolts around the edge or even just cut the paper like a nut (hex shape) or bolt & write party info on back.
if you are looking for some robot pics, try http://explodingdog.com he has some awesome stuff - you'll have to search a bit.
teehee- doing the robot....maybe the parents can do that!

oh jeez... i remember those things. i always saw rainbow colored ones. my hair has always been too thick to wear barrettes (they just pop open and fall out) so i never wore them.
this might just be me, but i feel that this trend enters into "if you're old enough to remember the FIRST time it was cool, you're too old to wear it this time" territory.
so true! but i might be inclined to go with an altered version - minus the streamers. especially the feathers! eeeee.
what about friendship pins?!?!? my first craft obsession. can you imagine what a commotion those would cause on schools today? weapons! do they even let kids wear those american flag safety pin things to schools?

OMG! I think we are crossing into a threshold. I went to Target last week and saw a bunch of "My Little Pony's". Oh geezz!! I LOVED the barrettes though, ahhhhh, memories. And friendship pins, ha, they probably aren't allowed to wear them to school or on a plane for that matter!
