Post Subject: pattern for child's poncho?
Hola everyone,
I am searching for a child (age 3-5) poncho pattern. My mom's friend wants to "commission" me to make her granddaughter a poncho, but I haven't had any luck finding a cool pattern.
I'm looking for something for an advanced beginner knitter - preferably not frumpy - the patterns I am finding are pretty frumpy.
Any ideas? Or any advice on how to scale down an adult sized poncho pattern?

You might want to take a look around the Lion Brand Yarn site: www.lionbrand.com. They have tons of patterns, mostly ponchos right now but some shawls that may be similar to that one, or you could adapt a poncho pattern.
If you can increase and decrease without difficulty, try knitting a ribbon yarn or a light or medium weight yarn on huge needles to get that big loop effect. Or if you can't quite incr and decr nicely yet (like me :) ), you could just make a wide rectangular shawl. It should be pretty quick to make!

Post Subject: Fashion & Jewelry for Fall???
Ok, I know this is super early but where is the best place to find out what will be "in" for Fall 2005?
I found an awesome poncho pattern that I'd love to make. Not being a slave to fashion I might just make it and wear it anyway. (I am one of those people that loved ponchos before they were trendy and will love them long after.) It is something that could probably be adapted to a cape but I'd prefer a poncho...then again, I don't even know if capes will be popular.
Hmm, since I made beaded jewelry it would also be nice to know what stones will be hot for fall/winter.
Note: This isn't a thread to debate whether or not you loike ponchos or if they are icky or whatever. (Probably not neccessary here but I know some people like to go off about ponchos.)
