Post Subject: Attempting the Vera
Hey guys! I'm not sure if anyone is familiar to Vera Bradley bags, but I'm interested in trying to make one. I went out and bought quilted fabric in pink and orange and I'm going to try to start out small. I've already made an iPod case for my mini. I was able to make a case that is very useful and provides a lot of padding to ensure the scratch-free surface.
Now, I'm graduating to a small wristlet. I've posted some pictures to provide examples of the wristlet I want to make. I want to be able to hold my cell phone, some credit cards/cash and maybe even my iPod or sunglasses (maybe). It will be mostly for the beach. I need help making the strap around the wrist and how to attach it. I hope to eventually make a larger bag, which I could use as a purse. Any help is appreciated! Thank you <3

Post Subject: Ipod Cozy Patterns?
Does anyone ACTUALLY have a pattern to make an iPod cozy? I'm looking to make mine out of a quilted fabric . I think I'm just going to freehand it....
PS: If anyone is looking for nifty Ipod Gadgets go to http://www.griffintechnology.com it has everything. You can get things to plug into your Ipod to make a laser beam, to recording classes. Its amazing.

and i thought about making one...
but i couldnt figure out what to pad it with.... ideas?
I was at the fabric section of walmart, they had quilted fabric for baby quilts, that might make a good innerlining/padding. However it was kind of pricey, it was 8 or 10 dollars a yard ( i can't remember)

If you are buying her china, and if it's fancy china, something that I would have loved to have received and could be easily crafted is storage cushions for fine china. At my wedding I received my husband's grandmother's wedding china which is beautiful, but I live in fear of breaking it. I currently pack it in bubble wrap (not pretty but safe), but I remember seeing an idea for crafting felt spacers to cushion each piece - maybe it was a martha stewart thing. But it would be a nice thing to have (maybe I'll make some for myself) even if it's just cutting out circles of felt for between each plate, saucer, etc. that she will recieve. Or you can go more involved and do those storage cases that are like cylinders of felt that you place china in with a zippered lid (should be fairly easy to make - two circles a little bigger than her plates with a rectangle piece between them the same circumference) you could use felt or a quilted fabric and then personalize with initials or cloth cut-outs etc. I would love such a gift!

Friends I never got the appeal either. I just found it boring and mildly annoying. I did love Sex and City, but hated the final episode. Yawn.
My next question: those purses that look like they're made of quilted fabric and come in garish colors and patterns. Do you know what I'm talking about? I see them everywhere and think they're horrid. Why are they so popular? Where did they come from?

Ugh, I noticed those about a year ago, and assumed all would see that that they are fugly and the trend would fade quickly. Wrong! They are everywhere here in DC and just as ugly as they were to begin with. It's definitely the fabric that's gross, very Little House on the Prairie calico. The women carrying them would never consider clothing in those colors/patterns, why on earth would they carry a bag with them? They are currently selling them at Giant (grocery store).
