actually there is a huge movement going on right now with needle arts - venus just spotlighted an artist that does rug hook purses with pop art pictures, there are funky kits by indie designers on the market too.
anything that shows a new and different twist to an old favorite is great in my crafty world. i like to see crafts that make me gasp "Why didn't i think of that?"
you should do a sewing machine 101 for people who are scared by using machines. i know a lot of artists/crafters who are intimadated just at the thought of trying to go backwards! i am a self taught sewer, i started with placemat purses and worked my way up. now i do wild collage story quilts and all kinds of pillows...
