Post Subject: Need creative (cheap!) wedding flower ideas!
Hi everybody!
Calling all closet wedding planners! I have been enlisted to help my soon-to-be sister-in-law with the wedding flowers. I have been a florist and a wedding planner in my past lives, but would LOVE some new fresh ideas! ESPECIALLY since I will be doing these on my own funds.
NOTE- to increase the degree of difficulty, the wedding is in CA and I'm in GA. I'll need to bring basic supplies, or perhaps raid a Micheals or JoAnns out there for the basics. BUT SF does have an awesome fresh flower market, so I'm good, right?
Ideas: Ribbons- some high-style flowers and Amy even suggested fruit! for table decorations! How cool! She'll be a great sis-in-law, huh?:)

It never ends, ever.
Say you get married: then people ask you constantly when you are going to have a kid. Then once you have the kid, they ask how many more brothers/sisters you are going to "give them". People will never let up, trust me. It sounds like Future Mama in Law just wants to show off and put on a big production for everyone else.
We were together seven years before we married, and after the two year mark, it was a constant topic among his family and our coworkers/friends about when we were going to get hitched. What was even worse was they would wait until I was alone with them to dig for information about why he hasn't asked me yet. Hell, I don't know, and its none of your business.
Once we made the decision, though, I was blissfully left to plan the entire thing myself with no outside "input" or "suggestions". I had the wedding and reception I wanted to a T: we wrote our own vows, there was no bouquet toss, garter grabbing, or organized dancing. I burned all my own reception music, made my own table decorations, and selected most everything down to the last detail. I felt very fortunate that I didn't have some middle aged freak breathing down my neck trying to recreate what they would have wanted for THEIR wedding. So do it on your own terms, exactly what the two of you want, no compromise, no exceptions.

I did loads of DIY stuff for my wedding and it was great!
Flowers - my mother in law did these for me
Photography - my friend was the photographer as she''d done a few other weddings
Catering - we did our own sit down buffet
Transport - we used the best man''s sports car and then walked from the church to the venue
Stationery - I made all my own stationery
Music - we used an iPod
Hair - got my friend to do it for me
Favours - we didn''t have any!
Table decorations - we did all the decorations ourselves
You can do loads and give it a real personal twist. I think it makes for a much nicer wedding, rather than an ''identikit'' wedding.
