If there was anything new that you were craving, you could hit up freecycle to see if anyone in your area has that something special gathering dust in their attic. That's also a good way to get free paint or wallpaper (which I'm told is making a comeback.)
On the cheapy side, one of my favourite ways to decorate walls is with shelf liner. You can get it at the dollar store, roll it on the wall and presto! new wall. It also takes paint really nicely which is handy when you're like me and aren't allowed to paint the walls of your rented living space.
Another fun wall decor idea is to attach dried tree branches, and hang pictures around them.
