something else - i also love that people aren't using sig files here. i can't stand on other boards when there's a serious discussion, and you have to scroll through all the various sig files attempting to be hi-larious. they really interupt the flow of a conversation for me, and seem to just be places for folks to quote their favorite singer or advertise their blog/ebay store.

I have my favorite singer quoted in my signature.
But I don't think I'm being clever. I think she is. _________________ When you got a hundred voices singin',

right soapandwater, and i love sharing music with people too - i've been turned on to many great bands with just one quote, but you just used a three line sig file with a two line post. that seems really distracting to me. i'd rather see sig files in the left margin maybe under a person's name or something, maybe even only on people's profiles, if they have to be there at all.

I don't mind the short sig files people on this board have. It helps that they are separated from the message with a line because I don't even see them anymore, my eye skips right over them (years of ignoring the adds at the bottom of yahoo groups emails). I like that it is a place for people to list their websites, if I had to go searching through profiles I would never make it to half the cool sites I see. I really really hate the animated sig files and really hope that never happens here. Some people on the about.com forum I visit once in a while have signatures with over a dozen silly characters, banners, and 3x5 pictures. You scroll down an entire screen length to get to the next message!

To the posters who say they only see the results and can't vote in the poll, do you think you might have selected "view results"? If you did, that's a null vote, and you won't get another chance to vote. The way these usually work is you vote first, then get to see what the current stats are.

I also can't vote, but I didn't get a chance to select anything. It defaulted to the results page. Of course, I use Netscape on a Mac so I'm used to things not working. And yet I persevere.

I either voted already and don't remember it (possible) or can't vote, either, but my vote's for no avatars. They're cluttery and make it hard to concentrate on the actual message; I DO like them in the blog section, though. I actually really like the way the board looks right now.
