Hmmm, I always thought men jeans were more comfortable to wear... _________________ Craft Revolution-one purl at a time.

| I didn't know there was a name for this trend, but guys who wear this stuff are hott. That's right, that's "hot" with a double "t". |

Am I the only one who thinks those guys look kind of...um...idiotic? Or am I just old?
The photos didn't really show the pants clearly enough—they just look like ordinary jeans to me. But that hair! What are they thinking?
And I agree; men's jeans are much more comfortable all-around. I can't imagine a guy preferring women's pants unless he either had a really freaky body shape or was a cross-dresser. |

Well I KNOW I'm old (36) but I still think it's interesting. I know back in the punk rock days I thought I was uber cool, so now it's fun for me to look at younger people's styles etc.
Lyssalicious: I tried to explain to a male co-worker that I bet a lot of girls liked this look. He couldn't believe it, now I have proof! hehe
I didn't know what it was called either.
I should try to take a pic of the guy that I see all the that dresses this way. He's got the look down pat! :D

I'm 35 and didn't even notice the hair 'til I read your post. Glenn Danzig was rocking that look 25 years ago. This is what hardcore boys looked like in 1981:

Oh my gosh Karen, you're right! How funny. How does that saying go? Keep it and it'll come back in style?
**ETA I can't imagine Danzig wearing a white belt, but now that I think of it, I wasn't paying that much attention ;) _________________ Zuzzzzzz |

As a girl who hangs out in the harcore scene with hardcore boy, that article's been mentioned a couple of times, and we concluded it's sort of tongue in cheek.
I do know boys who wear girls pants, not sure why, they also sport ridiculous dyed black hair, in homage to Danzig. The name fashioncore was something of a negative term as far as I am aware, in reference to kids who come to see bands as part of a fashion show , not to see the band and dance, eg they aren't hardcore, they are fashion-core. Tight t shits are also a part of it, as it fastening your girl pants underneath your butt cheeks (yes, really). |

| I don't get it. Those pants don't look any different than the vast majority of "guy pants" sold at hipster stores. Seriously, what's the distinction between slim fitting men's pants and "girl pants"? Then again, I've never been big on jeans and they all pretty much look the same to me, so maybe I'm just missing the subtlelty, but it seems like a fairly silly thing to call not wearing the now woefully out of date baggy, low slung, dude jeans a burgeoning hipster gender bending movement. Now if there was a mass movement of het men wearing something that were REALLY girl jeans, like knee length cullotes with sequined unicorns all over them, I'd say, yes, that deserves it's own notice and name, but this is something i wouldn't even notice walking down the street as distinct. |

i got my boyfriend to try on a pair of my hip huggers and they looked really good on him, probably because they were the right size on him and he didnt need to roll them up at the bottom though.
but he can stick to wearing his normal guy pants. _________________ ~*Ashley is crafty cool!*~ |

i have no idea if that article is legit or not, but awhile ago i was lamenting the fact that my dude couldn't find any slim fitting pants and my friend's hardcore boyfriend told me that all of his pants were girl pants. he's a totally a card-carrying member of the hardcore scene - hardcore tattoos, pins, fashion, music collection, etc. and so while it may not be an exclusive hardcore thing (or fashioncore - what a lame term), i think it may be something the hardcore kids are into.
but i agree with mishy that it's sort of a generic hipster look - with the white belt and all. |

My ex (super skinny 28 inch waist, looked like a cross between a young Iggy Pop and a young Brian Eno) used to wear girls low rise slim cut pants all the time. Hell, I bought them for him!
Hair over one eye? That's metal, skater, hippy, harcore, you name it.
Anytime there's a scene uniform, I think it's both funny and pathetic. In this article, the bandana in the back pocket reminded me of the "hanky code": http://www.midwest-ursine.com/hanky.htm
Anyway, I've always loved men in slim/stovepipe legged pants. Though the past few years I've also been loving Utilikilts: http://www.utilikilts.com/ |

OMG the utilikilts! That company is from my neck of the woods. The guy who makes them is quite a nut (not because he wears a kilt but because well...he's a nut!) but he looks good in the thing I must say. Unfortunately I see a lot of guys wearing them who really should rethink the idea ;)
I guess I'm biased because I have a couple of co-workers who have worn these trying to be "so different" and it kind of bugs me. Maybe my shrink is right...maybe I AM a bad person ;)

Um.
I'd probably date one of these boys. Or try to start a band with one. _________________ When you got a hundred voices singin',
