Hi I'm Malinka
I'm 30yo and I live in Melbourne, Australia.
I went to glitter a few times but lurked more than posted. I aim to change this now, because I don't spend enough time procrastinating on the web. No really, I plan to post more because this seems like a great supportive community that will be all the better the more people get into it. I love reading about the creative and caring things people here are into, and it inspires me to do more of these things myself. I posted a thingy in the cooking forum about finger food ideas for my wedding *my first new-topic post* and I can't believe the time people who don't know me at all have taken out to share their ideas. Mush mush, I know, but there you are.
I love:
*my fiancee (tee hee--newly engaged)
*cooking
*trying to garden (definitely a novice at this)
*coffee in the morning
*crime fiction
*books
wow that sounds kinda dull
um
*going to farmers markets
*Coopers beer, the best in Australia, chemical-free
*buffy, I know she's gone, but I can't let go
I'm definitely a feminist too. I guess my mum and my stepmum and my grannie, who are not at all oppressed housewives, taught me a lot about crafting and so I've always seen it as a means of expressing myself and my love for people, and achieving great stuff that's not about work and money. I love cooking a great meal, just for my boyf or for a whole raft of people, and I love that my grannie crocheted each of her grandkids a rug when we moved out of home.
At the moment my main crafty things are cooking and gardening, and the kind of creative living thingies people here talk about. I used to sew a lot, and am busy getting back into that. My first, new project, which I hereby *pledge* to finish my the end of this month is a bag for a friend's birthday. It's a sturdy fabric with a chinesey-flower and water print, and I'll also put a little beading on it. I also want to learn to knit and crochet. I have knitted a couple of times before, but have completely forgotten how.
That's more than enough blather from me.
Happy to meet you all |

hi, i'm betsy.
i'm a caffeine addict, crafter, sometimes knitting tutor for beginners, grad student, and a writer of sorts.
i adore taking naps, making lists and those really cheesy made-for-tv movies that air late at night, because they always seem to have random actors from my youth desparately searching for a comeback. i am avidly awaiting the comeback of mr. t.
i am from north carolina, but currently residing in london. i'm about to finish my MA in sociology, once i write my dissertation on knitting and activism. soon i will need a job. as i have no current job leads, am a bit worried.
currently, i organize stuff with the knitting club cast off and have a tiny blog (that gets bigger as time goes on... yay!), craftivism.com.
i also like cake.
x

Hello!
My name is Beth, I'm 18 years old and I live just outside Manchester, in the north of England. I used to read a lot, and occasionaly make insignificant posts on the old get crafty, am determined to do more posting this time although I doubt it will pan out since I tend to be more timid on the net than in real life for some bizarre reason.
I currently have no 'occupation' as such, since I left my lovely job at Lush in Manchester, where I was a full time shop assistant for 7 months, at the end of April to go travelling. Have now been back a week, having spent 6 weeks travelling on my own around Italy, Slovenia and Croatia, which was utterly fantastic in every way, apart from the fact that it is somewhat depressing to be home again. Very depressing actually. Travelling is probably my main passion in life, and travelling alone is a liberating and fascinating experience. I have constantly itchy feet and an endless list of places to go. In September I will be moving out of my home and into a dingy little basement flat in Leeds with my boyfriend of 16 months and starting my degree in Italian and International Studies, which should be fun.
Crafting is something I have discovered in the last few years, and my interest in it has been fueled by sites like this. I wouldn't say I'm particularly skilled at anything in particular, but I love making over furniture with decoupage and paint and all sorts, making big collages and scrapbooks with the random bits and bobs I collect on my travels, knitting (mainly scarves and hats because I'm always losing them), and mainly sewing. Despite my utter lack of skill I manage to bumble my way through all sorts of projects, and particularly like designing and making bags. I have sold a few to friends and through ebay. In an ideal world that would be what I did for a living. Little craft shop and art gallery with my artist boyfriend. A girl can dream.
I also like folk music, real ale, good food, earl grey tea, hiking, and talking about myself (sorry, I have rambled terribly!) |

Hello!
My name is Abby and I am new to the forum. :)
I love crafts. I like to do decoupage a lot, make Christmas ornaments, and I teach gift wrap. I am learning how to make scrapbooks - mine are very very basic if you looked at them. I love mostly the paper crafts. I knit when I have insomnia, which means I have this big long thing that could be like a nine foot long scarf if I ever tied it off, which I haven't.
I am a graduate student and will complete my degree in August. Crafting is a fun way to relieve stress and a lot of my friends do some kind of craft.
I drink coffee every morning, green tea, diet soda every day -- way, way too much caffeine for the typical person. But I guess that's the usual graduate student! I love to read - biographies, chick lit, even romance novels if they aren't too sappy. I love independent movies, yoga and vegetarian cooking.
Well, that's me and I look forward to meeting all of you!

I thought I replied to this, but I might be confused on which message board I did...
anyway, I'm Andi, live in a Cincinnati 'burb and work as public info officer for an interstate water pollution control agency.
I run my own online biz and like to craft useful items from recycled goods like cardboard, coffee tins, glass jars and so on so I incorporate those in the DIY section of my web site! |

I just re-found this board after visiting for the first time a few years ago. I live in VT, and I love to sew. I've had a few fashion shows (I try to average one a year), I also do costuming for local plays, occasionally do some beading, like to get crazy with RIT, and my non-crafty loves are bellydancing (really any kind of dancing), performing (singing and more dancing), and being outside (the 2 months of the year when it's sunny here).
I also have a day job as a cube dweller/data analyst...gotta use that statistics degree for something! Though I've got a 2 year plan underway to quit my job and live off my sewing.
You can check out pictures of my last two shows here if you're looking for something to do. I've been on a huge recycled clothes kick for 2 years now.

Jera here,
June there.
June is my 5 month old grey/tan tabby, and she's the kind of kitty that makes bear hunters shoot their dogs.
Everything she does is adorable, and she knows it... in a humble way? is that possible?
I'm i'm 23 years old, a pisces and i enjoy picnics, inline skating, lakes and summertime (how else could a kitty born on christmas eve get a name like June?). I like smelling sweet things and staying up all night til it's light. I like poems that use foul language tastefully and i don't like the word "like" used for punctuation.
I am constantly quitting smoking over and over again. I started when i was 14 or so, so it's really suckin'. I really do try, and i really do want to.
Old "vintage" corny prints on anything make me giddy. like cheezy greens and oranges... Advocado anything makes me weak. I crochet and i sew and i like to cut clothes up and (maybe) sew them back together. I used to rave and eat lots of drugs, so i'm obligated to enjoy making beaded bracelettes. I keep a journal, have been since i was in 8th grade. I like furniture and one day i will get around to sanding all my crap down and painting it all the way it is begging to be painted. I have always been intrigued by quilting, and if someone could please convince me it's not necessary to have a bunch of heavy machinery to quilt, i might. That would be great.
I say things like "super-duper" and "totally" when i get excited. A lot. I have a tendancy to look on the bright side of things and talk to my cat way too much.

| Hi, I was BionicGirl on glitter too, but I didn't post too often there (it always seemed so... big). I'm in Austin, and I live with 2 cute boys (okay, one of them is only 1-yr-old, but still). I like art, outdoorsy stuff, food, smart & funny things, history... oh, and making things! I am pretty craft A.D.D. and tend to have a lot of projects of any variety going on at once. I like paper crafts a lot, especially book-making (which I am still learning). I am a Web designer so I tend to use the computer for a lot of stuff, scanning in images & reprinting en masse, designing cards and what not. Basically, if I see something I want or think looks cool or pretty I will try to make it. I do some jewelry work and a little bit of sewing (though not clothes as of yet!). I do a heck of a lot of fixing up the house (and the yard will be next). I want to start doing some embroidery too. |

Hi, I'm Maggie. A once in a blue moon poster and longtime lurker from the old glitter and now I'm here - it's nice to see get crafty back.
I'm 33, married, with a dog and badcat and I'm a researcher/grantwriter/girl friday for a literacy organization. I just finished my Masters in Teaching English as a Foreign Language - and I tutor adults in English one night a week.
Like someone else said, i plan more projects than I start and start more projects than I plan and graduate work + full time job has been keeping me from being creative. Now that I have some evenings free I want to get back to some of the things I like to dabble in: pottery, collage/rubber stamping, cooking, making bookcases (I'm an insane reader and DH is a Philosophy grad student - you can imagine the space we need for books), basic sewing, and I'd like to learn to crochet or knit.
I love this board because it provides me with lots of inspiration and I admire the feminist aspects. Even though I haven't been that active, it's nice to know there is a community of like minded souls in cyberspace.
Thankyou for making this forum happen! |

Hmm, I feel like a kid here, no offense to the rest of you over ....
Christine. I'm 15 years old. I live 12 miles from Boston.
Sweet lord, a spider just crawled across the screen!!!!
Anyways, I love to enhance shirts. Customize them and stuff. I've made bags but they've never really worked out well. So, I use them as oven mittens. Hence my username. _________________ Signature Later. |

hi all - alyssa here. i am cinnamongirl (like the song) here and at supernaturale, was lilmissunshine on the old glitter.
single, just turned 27 and living in mass (yay for all the new englanders on here!) and working at a publishing company.
currently i {{heart}} walking and picnicing in the woods, reading all the books on my bookshelves that have gone unread for years, apple scented anything, outdoor concerts, birds as decoration, boys who build things, magic hat #9, the amazing race and being in or on the water.
i am mostly a paper crafts kind of girl - making stationary, collage, journals, etc - also make jewelry and always have big plans to sew my own clothes and finish learning to knit and embroider. _________________ "and it's all in the desire,

Helleau.
I'm Megan, from Chicago. I'm 28, and flibbleflabble on every message board ever so I can always remember my sign in name and accompanying password.
I've always been a crafty lady, from a long line of crafty ladies, although now its more for fun instead of frugality. I'm not the greatest at sewing clothes, because fit can get so frustrating. I definitely dig knitting and crochet and sewing items. One of the coolest things I discovered is Hawaiian quilting--I just did a wall hanging, but it is so beautiful and symmetrical. I love projects that I can complete and take serious focus, like model cars, or lip gloss, or anything. I hemmorage cash in craft stores with good project kits.
I principally pay my rent through admin work (oooh, it has been too long), but the real plan is that I am an actor, writer, director, comedian. I do a lot of that on the side, so it's not a full pipe dream. my sketch group Brick
I'm single as of about 3.5 months after a super long relationship. This heh informs a lot of heh my posts. Mainly, I'm just dragging along in the search for some truth. |
