There's a lot you can do with fabric.
Curtains are easy & make a big difference.
And you can cover walls with it. I had friends who hated their wood-paneled living room wall, so they stapled fabric over it. The staples came out pretty cleanly when they moved & it made a huge difference in the feel of the room.
One thing I've been considering doing is making a large frame of plywood, almost as big as the far wall of my bedroom, and covering it with a solid color fabric. Frames are fairly simple to make, especially if you've got wood glue & a staple gun.
Throw rugs can help, as can new bedding. And picking a bright accent color and adding it around the room as throw pillows, lamps & pictures can help counterbalance the stark white walls of most rentals. |

Have you asked the landlord about painting?
Sometimes they let you do it if you promise to repaint it to the orignal color, say white, or whatever it is.
Look for accent pillows, those string lights, candles, furniture and artwork you love. |

ditto to the other posts, plus: folding screens can be cool and are a way to add color without painting the walls -you can make one yourself out of bi-fold doors & paint it any color you like!
Also, big plants can add a lot to a room and a plant -provided you take care of it- can be a nice investment and something you could have for a long time(my mom has a HUGE split-leaf philodendrum that is at least 20 years old - she got it in a floral arrangement and just took good care of it- now it is pratically a family heirloom!) _________________ "don't let the world get in your way; make your mistakes; go on your way"
