I was chillin with some bubble tea the other day and I read an article in the news about this thing called Art-O-Mat, in which a man has restored cigarette vending machines so that they sell little pieces of art. What do you know--my town put one in our public library! I checked it out and it is full of lots of neat things. AND--the Art-O-Mat people are looking for more artists to sell their work.
I'm too far on the craft end of the craft<-----|----->art spectrum but I know some of you are really artistic and could whip out tons of the little paintings and collages that seem to be typical of this project. But hey, with some more effort we could probably come up with some very good crafty things to vend too.
One small catch is that you only earn $2-$2.50 per piece (although that is a full 50% of the sale price). It would be great for anybody who wants to get the word out about a larger body of work. Good advertising for your web site too!
Anyway if you are interested, look at http://www.artomat.org for more info.

| i've seen a few in my area-they are so cool, but i can never narrow my choice down to just one piece to buy, and i'm stingy, so i guess i haven't had the full art-o-mat experience. |

Isn't this cool? I first read about it when we had our place in Charlotte, NC. Though they don't list any in Indiana yet on that site, I just found out there is at least a similar machine in Indianapolis in the Arts Garden at Circle Centre! (In this week's http://www.nuvo.net
Guess where I am heading tonight?! :) _________________ I want to do something great!

I think I'll submit something too. I love sharing my art and this seems like the ultimate way to do it! I'm wondering though, where I could get my wood blocks. I mostly do 2-d art peices so should I just go to the craft or hardware store? Where do I get acetate?
eta: I wish we had one of those art-o-mat machines around here! I'd probably go even more broke collecting the art though. |

I swear i saw one of those in a museum somewhere but didn't buy anything b/c I thought it was one of those things where you were supposed to look but not touch, but i looked at the locations and don't recognize any of the places...oh well, i'll just have to keep my eyes peeled.

| If you look under the submissions area on the Art-o-Mat website, they sell wooden blocks. 50 for $25. I have no idea if that's a good deal, but they sell blocks and boxes in the right sizes. I think it also said you get the acetate when you buy the boxes! |
