| I check both boards. I post on Supernaturale more because it is a lot faster pace. I like the faster pace. I think getcrafty is more warm fuzzies and supernaturale is a more broad spectrum of topics, from fluffy to politics. As far as the negative vibes go I think it will probably pass. There seems to be some sort of cycle that it goes through every now and then. Now with everyone wanting to switch to getcrafty I wonder if it will become more like the "old" glitter. |

Well then, here here, thank you for your noble efforts! You're like Al Gore, Rodney King ("Can't we all just get along?"), and a U.N. weapons inspector all rolled into one. Of the craft message board world, or course.
I think polarization is a strong word, something to be used when describing federal spending or foreign policy, but hey whatever floats your boat.
Doesn't the word "polarization" sound like it should be defined as the process of being all ice cold and North Pole like? If that was the case I need some polarization... becuase it's hot up in here! I would like to be eating a Klondike bar too (that's what North Pole people do right? I saw it on t.v.). |

A moment of interruption:
I first used the word "polarization" because I like it, phonetically.
Seriously, if you sound it out, it sounds niiiiiice.

I already have a manservant (who I totally love and am marrying by the way...I guess feminists aren't man haters afterall. Who knew?) but I could use a ladyservant as well! Especially one in the UK, one of my favorite places to be :) |

anmeikitty, should we ever meet up in person, I'm totally buying you a Klondike bar for giving me the best laugh of the day. Come to think of it, the genuine wit (call it 'biting sarcasm' if you must) is exactly why I prefer this board and group of gals over the other one. _________________ "People call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat or a prostitute."

since i love my dictionary (scribner-bantam, btw):
polarization n the pulling apart of two groups of people into tensely opposing stances
it seemed like the perfect word to me. i've seen this happen in other communities, and it's usually unproductive and unneccesarily leads to hurt feelings and angry standoffs. i don't see why my attempts to avoid this between the 2 boards at hand is such an unwelcome thing.
and i'm completely in the dark as to why i feel such venom from you, anmeikitty. should i know you as someone else on another board?? |

| I am feeling like when I was at school being told to get along with all the other girls, when quite frankly I am happy to just do my own thing wherever I want on the internet without it necessarily meaning I want to see the glitterati's collective head on a spike. |

honeybee, with your dictionary, i think you've answered your own question. while other posters here are just commenting that they feel more comfortable here, you're bringing up negative vibes, disagreeing with people's opinions that they like the discourse level here more, and trying to stop the angry flood of 'opposing stances.'
to me, it looks as if most posters are saying 'whatever, post where ever you feel like it, i happen to fit better here' and you're chiming in with escalting language and comments and definitions of words like you're a sixteen year old english student. that's a blunt way of putting it, but i'm saying it because i think you honestly are not aware that reference books are a poor way to structure a mature discussion. i hope this doesn't hurt your feelings, i am trying clarify what's going on here.
it's really okay that people like one board or the other better *for them*. they're not our children that we have to love equally else face the therapy bills. purposes change, and no one has said they'd never post on supernaturale again, and i am sure that most people would *if it suited their purposes*. |

I'll be positive here and say that I like both boards, despite all the current drama on the other one (seems to be migrating a little). Some days I like that the other board is so fast, like if I have a lot of downtime at lab, and this board is much more calm and polite, with less "yelling". I post on both (I have another name for glitter, oooohhh secret identity!) and I think it is fun to be part of two different communities with differet vibes for my different moods/whims.
So I like both at different times for different reasons. This probably says more about my strange moody nature than either board, but that's okay.
See, I'm in a weird mood now, but that could be because I'm psyching myself up to go to the lovely Philadelphia water department and if I go there at all snarky, bad things will happen and I will never have water. |

gosh.
without getting all "when I was your age, candy was nickel" on your collective asses, I must say that I suspect the younger demographic of the average poster on supernaturale explains a lot of the lack of courtesy and manners. I think people who grew up with chatboards are more comfortable with an anonymous forum than are us old-timers who used to writing letters and talking on the phone--you know, more personal interaction
this ain't just a chatboard for me. It may have started as a way to kill time at work, but it's become an important part of my life. The friendships and the community that have originated in my association with glitter have enriched my life unquestionably. I can't even begin to explain it, but for those of you who know me, both IRL and as a voice online, I don't think I have to explain anything.
regarding the accusation (it might have been on supernaturale) that we're only interested in talking to the people who we can relate, I have to confess, indeed I am. Nothing against stay-at-home moms, Republicans, conservatives, cheaters, bigots, or other folks who have made different choices than I have . . . but I really can't relate politically or ideologically and grow tired of butting heads.
Am I elitist? yeah, maybe. at any rate, it's my time to spend online, and I prefer kicking back with my posse to arguing with the un-pc neo-conseratives.

i have already said:
| Quote: | i don't prefer one over the other, but i tend to post more on glitter because there is more going on, and i enjoy the interesting debates that happen.
it's a matter of personal preference, and it bothers me to hear this polarizing talk of one board being better than another. they're just different. |
and since when is referring to the accurate definition of a word a bad thing? immature, even. what?
i still don't get why i'm being insulted and labelled negative. i feel like i've entered the twilight zone and my posts are being read in a different language than what i posted them in. |
