Hi,

I'm located in Texas and about to start selling professionally/creating a business. I'm not very "business minded" but I don't want to get into any legal trouble. I think I'll need a Texas tax id number- but is there anything thing else I should know?

Also, if you have any reference tips like websites (I already checked out the state website and IRS) or books, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Try www.score.org their website has some info plus if there is a local one you can go and get free help. I also recommend calling the local tax office or register of Deeds to make sure you have everything you need for a business in your area.

i have the same questions...

i live in keller tx. i have no clue what the guidelines are from a legal standpoint when you sell something online, like i am. i just turned 16, so i'm not sure if i'm even supposed to charge tax...or if there's some kind of a permit i need.

i just went ahead and made my site anyway, though. if i did something wrong i'll probably find out.

it's cool that you're so close, though. did you ever go to loose threads in denton? the last time some friends and i went there, it was closed down and empty. we were all disappointed about that.
