i trim my own bangs all the time, just go slowly and take a little off at a time. the best advice i can give is to cut you bangs dry, not wet, or just a little damp. you can tell better where they really go when they are dry.

cutting your hair when its dry is a good idea. But my bangs are really layered so i dont want to cut them across. I heard somone say that you can twist them and while holding them like that ,cut up into them. Sound a little wackey?I think i'll just giver' and hope for the best.wish me luck!

Not sure what style you're going for, but I cut my bangs with the scissors upwards so it's a bit layered.

Whenever I cut my own bangs, I put my hair in a pony tail and let the rest fall naturally to the front. Only the hair that falls forward naturally should you cut, and be sure not to get any of the hair that comes from your temples.
A hairdresser showed me this trick once. Oh, and ditto on cutting them dry. Otherwise they will end up shorter than you think. And be sure to use very sharp scissors. Good luck! _________________

The only help I can offer (Im not deft with a pair of scissors on my own head) is to say that I have heard it isn't a good idea to do any cutting while it is wet. Apparently your hair is more elastic and hangs longer when wet.
Waaaay off the subject, but before moving to Italy you got all of your Hepatitis vaccines, right? I picked up Hepatitis A when I was in Italy, and lemme tell you. I'm still recovering several several months later. I was yellow, in a German hospital for 8 days, bedridden for at least a month and when I was able to move, had to use a cane for a month! Get the vaccines!!
