Has anyone every tried this? A regular bikini wax or (eek!) a Brazilian? Being a crafty, frugal chick, I'm always thinking, "I don't have to pay for that, I can do it myself!" But now I feel I have reached the final fronteir.
So any advice is appreciated. Techniques, wax brands, cautionary tales, or what have you.
Thanks, ladies. |

I do this, but I'm not quite skilled enough to go full Brazilian on my own.
I usually use the Nair peach melon kit, I don't really like the way the Sally Hansen one smells. For your bikini area, cut the strips into quarters, smaller sections are much easier to work with. For some of the hard-to-see places, use a mirror rather than trying to twist yourself aruond.
Test the temperature of the wax first!! The same temp that is fine for your legs may be a bit much for the more...sensitive regions. And take your time.
I guess I don't really have any secrets. Good luck! |

good luck.

I do my own bikini waxing all the time. Front/sides only, mind you, not the full Brazilian - but it's really, really easy.
I'm not real picky about what kind of wax I use, except that it must be the sticky sugar kind, not the old-fashioned melted wax wax. The roll-on applicators are good for getting a layer of wax just the right thickness, but they're hard to clean, and I usually end up throwing half of it away because it just doesn't come out right if the bottle's not full.
I like the waxes in a tube, like Sally Hansen and Nair (Nair brand wax, not the depilatory stuff), better because you can use it all up and not waste any. Most recently the only wax I could find when I needed it was the Sally Hansen in a little tub, which works just fine too and isn't much messier to use. Nair also (finally, thank goodness) makes separate packages of just the cloth strips, so you no longer have to buy a whole new package of wax just 'cause you've run out of them.
I usually cut the strips in half (and then into quarters if there are smaller areas that need touching up). What I've found easiest is to spread the wax upward - that is, opposite the direction of hair growth - and then pull the strip off downward. I think they tell you to do the opposite, but that's what works best for me. It's also easiest if the hair's between 1/4" and 1/2" long, so if it's longer than that, it might help to trim it down first. |
