Hello all.

I am a forum newbie. I have been checking out get crafy for quite some time but never particpated in the forum until now.

so I felt I should introduce myself. I am 25 living in orlando florida doing interactive and motion graphic design. I have a fiance and a dog. I didn't just go to a tech school for my degree I went to an art school as well. and I miss the hands on get messes get crazy and creative ways of art. Digital art is just to clean. lol.

in my spare time I paint, draw, i love new crafts, been trying to gain a green thumb lately. and I should really start learning how to cook. lol.

been reading through some of the post and saw it was worth joining this place.

so thats all i got for now.

Hi, Libby!

Welcome! I'm kind of new myself. I used to post on Get Crafty's old forum, Glitter, but took a break for a long while and now I'm BACK with a new name. :) I can tell you right now that this is so fun. I used to stay up late in my dormroom reading threads instead of doing my homework! The people here are so funny and inspiring.

So, Florida, bless your heart - have you had to evacuate now for, what, the 3rd time? Or was Orlando safe? If you ever need to flee west, Austin TX (my town) makes for a divine hideaway...

I am trying to gain a green thumb myself. Something on a small scale though, like potted herbs I can keep in the windowsill. In the meantime I write and relentlessly decorate the apartment.

Hope I get to read more of your posts in the future. Ciao!

well thanks for the warm welcomes.

We haven't had to evacuate but I had a flight canceled because of it, and sereral days off work. So far so good as far as Ivan goes for us atleast. Charley hit us harder than Frances. Charley uprooted trees, and most homes in the central florida area sustained some sort of roof damange, not to mention some went weeks without power, or had uprooted trees fall on their cars. Frances was a long storm , it started noon on friday and didnt stop until early monday morning. Thank goodness for crafts and booze.

As for the green thumb , I am the same way. I live in the 3 level townhome , I have a balcony but not much grass. So only potted plants here as well. I found this bargain book ($5.00) at B&N about houseplants and it has helped tremendously.

So far I like this forum a lot , I've been reading back post and checking things out. Hope to have some things to contribute very soon.
