Hey, my boy "plays" bassoon - in the idea that he has one and old music, but doesn't take it out unless I beg and plead. It's just annoying when our dinky orchestra needs a bassoon and the group isn't very good anyway so it's not like he'd be the worst player.

Okay, my five:
-Canon digital camera body that works with my lenses, and throw in a good flash while we're at it
-A small farm and orchard, so I can have chickens to make breakfast and goats to mow the lawn, and tomato plants without little bugs... and a change in the boy's attitude so he enjoys it too! Plus house cats and barn cats!
-Small independent school, where all my friends can come and teach, and all the students want to learn
-Lifetime subscription to the Mac Upgrade Club (no, it doesn't exist) where they send you a new machine every six months - laptops and desktops alternating of course, and you get to keep them for a year or two
-Financial independence, where the investment profits are enough to live on, so we only take jobs we *want* and can take off to all corners of the world when we like

Yeah, those were a bit on the big side. Lemme try again:
-Dresser and nightstands and reading lamps for the bedroom
-Trip to China to take the examinations for my Chinese harp when I'm good enough to take them
-The wedding ring I've wanted since before I met the boy, and a wedding planned entirely without my mother's input
-All the satellite channels and TiVo with a huge hard drive, and a life so full I never want to watch TV
-Digital camera body and flash again. I really think this is what I'm saving up for once work starts.

not to hijack, but what's a good, supportive shoe with a grippy sole which also looks cute?

i just got an amazing pair of simple slide on clogs - got them at nordstrom and they were $75 but so well worth it. super comfy, so cute. http://www.simpleshoes.com/Apparel_Detail.asp?d=

so back to the question at hand...if I had unlimited money and 5 options..

1. a deluxe top of the line backpack, including detachable day pack to use on my....
2. around the world trip. open ended ticket with stops in costa rica, fiji, new zeland, australia, thailand, burma, vietnam, india, ending in amsterdam
3. i'd buy me a big ol house with a yard and fence overlooking the pacific ocean
4. i'd build and stock myself a craft studio - paints/fabrics/paper etc. all fresh packages, brand new supplies. aww yeah
5. i'd start a program in my local area to teach art/craft skills to children whose schools have had their art programs cut. everyone deserves the opportunity to create and express themselves.

what a lovely thread...now whose got the winning lottery ticket?

If money were no object, I'd love these things:

1. a Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress in one of her awesome prints
2. an ipod with a million songs on it
3. a trip around the world with Andrew
4. a Lilly Pulitzer shift dress in one of her awesome prints
5. a professional organizer and tons of custom-made shelves, cubbies, and worktables for my studio!

:)
