What 5 seemingly insignificant little things made you happy today?
(besides the obvious big things, family, friends, health, income . . .etc)

TODAY, this made me happy:

    sugarfree hot chocolate
going 55+ on a country road without a slow poke in the way
talking to someone who shares the same pet peeve
a parking spot where I thought none would be
    a free cookie

oooh! i like this thread. let's see

*Vosages hot chocolate(an early xmas gift from a friend) with a homemade marshmallow(I'm a copycat, but really, what could be happier than cocoa)
*a homemade christmas gift i've been thinking about making for months turning out even cuter than i expected (yay)
*planning to make a roast chicken for dinner
*new little flowers springing up on my cyclamen plant
*talking to my mom on the phone
*no-iron shirts all crisp coming out of the dryer

Oh, is that 6? Anyway, it may be cliche, but noticing the tiny happy things in the day really makes for a better life generally.

- the shower running exactly the temp i like this morning when i got in

- someone saying they like my name (Joy) which happens all the time and i'm usually sarcastic and say "my parents liked it" but today it made me feel good

- my boss giving me an extra 15 min break when a customer yelled at me

- my rommates dog excited as all get out to see me when i came home

- the note my rommates left on the mirror in the bathroom "we love you joy!"

that was a good pick me up thanks!

4. I did not have to drive at all today
Ok so I only have four, but it was still a good day.

1. FUN. I have a cookie swap tonight at my aunt's to look forward to and the cookies are all baked as of last night!

2. FAMILY/FRIENDS (obvious, but. . .). Thinking of my kids--and I'm anxious to see how their school (daycare) pictures came out. Thinking of going running this weekend if the weather is still good with my friend. Lucky to have an awesome hubby (okay, I'm putting a lot in this one but I'm thankful for it all).

3. TREATS. May treat myself to a Pumpkin Spice latte (I'm addicted) at Starbucks today.

4. GOOD HEALTH (I know, obvious). I got a $25 GC to spend at lunch today on clothes from meeting my goals health-wise from a work program with Harvard Health Healthy Returns (a not so obvious bonus to good health, right??). AND I'm as healthy as I've ever been too. Happy that I ride two miles every night on my stationary bike.

5. TIME OFF TO REGROUP. Tomorrow I'm taking a half day to go shopping as Santa for the kids--what fun! And will visit my aunt in town to get her contractor's name and see the work (we have plans for our house . . . oh, what plans!)

Okay, just one since I already did my list: I was at a store today and a dad was pushing his daughter in a cart and when she got fussy he started singing to her. It was soooo cute!! [although probably only because he had a good voice and was singing the 'oh child, things are gonna get easier..oh child things will get brighter' song] It made me smile.

* I had a really great night's sleep last night.
* My Texas Brown tarantula molted during the night, and when I looked in on her this morning she looked gorgeous!
* I found big bags of Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips on sale, two bags for $10. I bought four bags. Let the cookie-making commence!
* I made a purse out of neckties, and it looks great, is just the right size, and I absolutely love it!
* I'm going to stop on the way home for potatoes, and I'm looking forward to Spicy Potato Soup for dinner.

I've already posted but this made me happy today:

I was sitting at my craft table puzzling over what to make next. My 3 year old son, Harley comes up to me and says "Mom, what's wrong?". I said, "Well, I don't know what to make" Harley thinks for a few minutes and says, "I know Mom, cookies!" Oh how I smiled. Set the crafting aside and went off to bake. It was a good day! -PHH
